Settebello is an
exclusive women's clothing store formerly located in a much larger space in
Boston’s Back Bay. The challenge was to compress the merchandise display into
the center spaces of the store, and still maintain a gracious open and
distinctly non-mass merchandised atmosphere. The main floor area is
divided into 3 areas which differ in function and degree of privacy. The front space which opens
onto Newbury Street via a large bay window is laid out with comfortable
seating and oriental carpets and is lighted by a nineteenth century brass
chandelier. The salon atmosphere of
this first bay with relatively little product display leads to 3 bays devoted
entirely to merchandise display and sales. The final bay and the most
private of the space open to the public contains
changing and fitting rooms. The remaining space is
devoted to support functions such as storage, mechanical, and staff rooms. |
